5 Ways to Work From Home Effectively

It’s funny because even though I’ve been coaching virtually via zoom for years, and before that by phone, I recently started coaching again in-person AND was reminded of just how much I love it! For me nothing beats the power of an in-person connection and the power of a group! The picture you see in the intro is actually a shot of our recent in-person group now turned into zoom sessions. We had to switch to virtual meetings instead and we are making it work!

And that’s what we do as entrepreneurs right?

We adapt, find solutions and stay flexible.

I’m amazed at how many virtual speaking engagements are popping up – everyone is adapting:-)

Okay so here are my best tips to stay organized at home:

Tip #1: Set a schedule. Decide on your work hours – and I do want to say for those of you with kids home having to homeschool, give yourself grace! You are a powerhouse and can get so much done in a limited amount of time. Decide what works best for you and your family, and also focus on what really needs to be done to operate (and grow) your business, and get rid of all of the fluff. And for my business owners without kids, resist the temptation to work all day and all night with these social restrictions in place.

Tip #2: Do laundry and any other household chores outside of work hours, and if you’re one of those types of people (like me) who likes a neat and tidy environment, factor that into your schedule outside of work time. See below:-)

Tip #3: Take a lunch break – this is a big one! How often do we plough through the day not taking any breaks? I sometimes even hold going to the bathroom! Geesh. The programming to go, go, go is real! The calmer and more grounded we are, the more productive and resourceful we are. It’s counterproductive than what a lot of us are taught, but it’s true! Try it:-)

Tip #4: Schedule in everything from personal workouts to self-care to family time, etc. Everything in your life has a time and a place and needs to be treated as a priority. It’s not waiting until you are successful to live the life you want; it’s living it now which actually is being successful now. Again, have grace with all of this, as you navigate having to stay home right now.

Tip #5: Decide on customer service expectations, i.e. is it important to you to return calls / emails within 2 hours or 48? Decide on what is important and doable for you, and create a system around it. This will help you to set guidelines for yourself and also map out how much time you need in your schedule.
